Welcome to the Arkansas Rare Bird Alert for November 6, 2008, sponsored by the
Audubon Society of Central Arkansas (ASCA). ASCA meets at 7:00pm on the second
Thursday of each month. Check our website at www.ascabird.org for details on
meetings!

On Saturday, November 8, 2008, the Audubon Society of Central Arkansas will
conduct a field trip to the Andrew Hulsey Fish Hatchery and the Arkadelphia
Oxidation (sewage treatment) ponds. We will meet at 7:30 a.m. at the south end
of the commuter parking lot at I-630 and Shackleford Road in Little Rock and
carpool to both sites. Both sites are good for watching ducks, some shorebirds,
plus assorted other species as both have woodlands surrounding the bodies of
water. There will be quite a bit of driving and walking. The walking is on
level ground. Bring lunch and plenty of water. Barry Haas will guide this
trip. All birders are welcome to join us! We should arrive at the fish
hatchery main office around 8:45 a.m. for those who would like to meet us there.
For more information, please contact Karen Holliday at
karenh@arkleg.state.ar.us.

From around the state recent sightings are:

On Mount Magazine, a flock of approximately 30 Red Crossbills flew directly
overhead during a trail walk.

At Bald Knob NWR in White Co., 2 Nelson’s Sharp-Tailed Sparrows were seen.
Five Ross’s Geese were also seen in a mixed flock.

Black-Bellied Plovers were seen at Treadway’s Minnow Farm.

Thanks for calling the Arkansas Rare Bird Alert. Your contributions make the
Rare Bird Alert possible. If you would like to leave a message, please wait for
 the chirp. Good Birding!
