This is a summary of reports from the Northern California 
BirdBox, sponsored by the Golden Gate Audubon Society, compiled
18 April 2008 at 09:30 p.m.

Highlights: BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS, SOOTY SHEARWATER, WHITE-FACED IBIS, 
BRANT, BLACK SCOTER, BLUE-WINGED TEAL, BALD EAGLE, GOLDEN EAGLE, 
STILT SANDPIPER, FRANKLIN'S GULL, MARBLED MURRLET, RHINOCEROS AUKLET, 
LESSER NIGHTHAWK, WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKER, HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER, 
PURPLE MARTIN, NASHVILLE WARBLER, HERMIT WARBLER,  
MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER, RUFOUS-CROWNED SPARROW, CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, 
BLUE GROSBEAK, LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCH.

Alameda Co.
-----------
On Apr 18, a BLUE GROSBEAK was seen in the black walnut tree downhill 
on the right from the yellow "arrow" sign at MP 6.21 along Patterson 
Pass Road. An adult GOLDEN EAGLE was also seen in the area. 
A YELLOW WARBLER was seen  at MP 5.90 also on Patterson pass Road.

On Apr 17, the CLAY-COLORED SPARROW continues at Charles Woodrum's
feeder in Fremont. (Judi Cooper)

On Apr 13, at MP 6.04 along Patterson Pass Road, five species of 
warblers were observed for half an hour including NASHVILLE WARBLER,
WILSON'S WARBLER and MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER. (Rich Cimino)

San Mateo Co.

On Apr 16, a sea watch from Pigeon Point reported an adult breeding
plumaged FRANKLIN'S GULL and high count of (11,200) PACIFIC LOONS.

On Apr 15, a sea watch from Pigeon Point reported BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS,
(53) SOOTY SHEARWATER, (3) BLACK SCOTER, (1) RHINOCEROS AUKLET,
(6) MARBLED MURRLETS, and high counts of (5000) PACIFIC LOONS and
(1385) BRANT. (Ron Thorn)

El Dorado Co.

On Apr 12, (2) male and a female WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKER were seen 
200-300 yards west of visitor's center at Taylor Creek at 
Fallen Leaf Lake. (Rick Lebaudour)

On Apr 11, (3) male WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKER were of either side of the
kiosk at the snow park at Echo Summit on the south side
of Hwy 50. LEAST SANDPIPER at Kiva Beach, west of Tahoe Keys.

Marin Co.

On Apr 15, a 113 mile - 20 hour Biking Big Day in Marin Co reported 
150 species including BALD EAGLE at Pine Gulch Creek, GOLDEN EAGLE at 
the Bear Valley Visitor's Center, (6) BLUE-WINGED TEAL- four at 
Las Gallinas and two at Bolinas, seven species of swallows including 
BANK SWALLOW at Nicasio and PURPLE MARTIN at Five Brooks, 
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, WESTERN WOOD PEWEE, HERMIT WARBLER and 
BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER on Mt. Tamalpais, RUFUOS-CROWNED SPARROW 
and LARK SPARROW along Lucas Valley Road, 3 species of Owls and 3 species
of rails, WESTERN KINGBIRD, BRANT, two species of Orioles at 
Las Gallinas and Bolinas, and no Rock Pigeons.

Merced Co.
----------
On Apr 16, a STILT SANDPIPER was with dowitcher and LESSER YELLOWLEGS
in a shallow pond along Sandy Mush Road, just west of the entrance to 
the Merced NWR. There were tens of thousands of shorebirds here. 
Along the auto tour loop, there were a dozen CATTLE ERGETS. 
On Apr 17, at the Upper Cottonwood Creek Area, which is at the NW corner
of San Luis Reservoir, there was a LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCH, RUFOUS-CROWNED
SPARROW, (8) PHAINOPEPLA and a HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER. Back at the Merced
NWR, at dusk, there were (3125) WHITE-FACED IBIS. A pair of 
LESSER NIGHHAWKS were reported along Sandy Mush Road to the east near the
adult correctional facility along Hwy 159. (Peter Metropulos)
