Subject: FOS Painted Bunting
From: "George R. Hoelzeman" <uiogd(AT)ARKANSAS.NET>
Date: 25 Apr 2008 8:25am
Yesterday (24 April 2008) evening about 6:00pm my oldest daughter spotted the
FOS Painted and Indigo Buntings foraging for seed on the deck. We sat and
watched for a bit and before it was over we saw at least six Indigos, two
Painteds, a Chickadee, Cardinal, Cowbird, Mourning Doves and a pair of very
frisky
Chipping Sparrows . . .
whose "activities" elicited a fair number of interesting questions from the
kids. ;-))
George (n. Conway Co. very pleased that the Painted Buntings have finally
returned)

Subject: Rose Breasted Grosbeak in Stuttgart
From: Katherine Radomski <k_radomski(AT)YAHOO.COM>
Date: 25 Apr 2008 9:26am
I just talked to a new birder who was thrilled to report a grosbeak in her yard
in Stuttgart. This is the first she has ever seen, and she has been feeding
birds for years. I had given a bird id presentation for her women's club about
a month ago and gave them all a copy of the AGFC backyard bird book. She had
given hers away and asked for more, and I also sent her the Wings over Arkansas
information, which happened to have the grosbeak on the cover. This is how she
identified what she had seen.
It's so much fun to hear the enthusiasm of a new birder who has just seen a new
bird!
