Hi
I was going to recommend Eddie Chapman but I see others have beaten
me to it. If he's not available you could try birdingpal.com, a
network of local birders happy to take folk around their local patch
as well as a list of pro guides.
All the best

Very good Gail. The Pyrenees of course - at least some of them! -
are in Catalonia, along with Barcelona. Just back from the Pyrenees
last night in fact, quite superb birding and I was there on a family
long weekend and only managed quick pre-breakfast trips (I'm sure
we're all familiar with those).

Subject: Purple Martin egg numbers
From: "R.D. Everhart" <everhart(AT)black-hole.com>
Date: 8 Jul 2009 11:12am
Thanks to the great folks out in cyberspace I know a little more now
about Purple Martins than I did before. Turns out they do sometimes
practice parasitic nesting. I have not, however, found documentation
of a nest with more than 8 eggs present.
Details at:

Subject: LATE BREEDING RED-NECKED GREBES
From: "Ram Nambiar" <ramnambiar(AT)sympatico.ca>
Date: 8 Jul 2009 1:35pm
Hello Chatters,
Last time (late June)when I wrote about a pair of Red-necked Grebes
hanging around an empty nest in late June, I thought there was
something wrong with them. I have been to the location 2 times
since then and what I found out was that the nest has more
material added to it and she has laid 4 white eggs in it. This morning she
was sitting on them and after half an hour her partner replaced, her going
for a feeding trip. I have taken nearly 40 pictures of both individuals in or
out
of the nest.
There were couple of cases in Burlington( a suburban Town of Toronto)
where the late laid eggs were abandoned by the Red-necked after sitting
for a while.
I hope the eggs hatch here and I am eagerly waiting for a few shots
where the young sometimes take a free ride on the back of Mom or Dad.
Sorry, last time I didn't make it that clear about the Grebes, I suppose. One
chatter, I will not mention his name, wrote very arrogantly, about my English.
Fine. I am trying. To start with, it not my language Mr. Arrogant.
Good Birding,
Ram

Subject: New update to AviSys 6.x
From: Jerry Blinn <support(AT)avisys.net>
Date: 8 Jul 2009 6:30pm
An update to AviSys Version 6.00J, from any prior copies of Version
6, is now available free of charge at www.avisys.net
The included enhancements are as follows:
* Provides support for "netbooks," very small computers with screen
resolutions of 1024 x 600. When a "netbook" environment is sensed,
AviSys shrinks the sizes of impacted windows to properly fit on the
small screen.
* Improved Backup facility. Backup is now embedded in the AviSys
program, instead of as a separate program as in prior versions. This
will sidestep issues caused by some anti-virus programs.
* Backup is changed to eliminate "Drag-and-Drop," which caused
trouble for users who didn't understand standard Windows functions
--- "Copy and Paste" is now provided as the safer, and equivalent, alternative.
* "Backup" is now a separate item on the main menu bar, for ease of
access. (It still resides, also, as an item on the "Utilities" menu.)
* Other minor enhancements.
All users who had downloaded and installed the special update for
"netbooks," should download and install this update.
