Subject: NYS Kingbird Archives/ ABA Birding Archives
From: Ber Carr <mycocarex(AT)hotmail.com>
Date: 22 Dec 2009 8:02am
The NY State Ornitological Association has recently added past editions of their
quarterly journal in an online archive. This is a great resource for
information for the distribution of NY Birds.
I checked the ABA site, but only a small portion of the articles from Birding
are archived. This may have been covered before, but will the full editions of
Birding be archived? I'm at the point where I'd like to donate my hard copies to
others who would like to read them. These people may join once they've had a
chance to read the magazine.

Interesting article in the Dec 21 & 28, 2009, issue of The New Yorker
entitled The Ice Retreat: Global Warming and the Adelie Penguin by Fen
Montaigne. Environmental change is occurring in Antarctica very fast.

Subject: Re: Non-countable exotics on Christmas Bird
Counts

Hi Joe,
Thanks! Yes I am sure it was not "ABA submittable" for a
while way back when because a couple times I thought there
were earthquakes and it turned out to be disgruntled listers finding
out the bird was not ABA submittable under the rules then,
based on it not being accepted by the CBRC. :)
I don't know the current rules, obviously, because I don't
competitively list.
P.S. So just 30 some years after everyone else figured it out,
the CBRC got it? :)
Thanks again,
best regards,
Mitch
