Weather:
Steadily dropping barometer; relatively clear skies at the start of the
watch becoming progressively more cloudy through the day; winds shifting
from northerly to southerly at ground level, but winds over 100 meters
appeared more-or-less consistently southeasterly; temperatures climbing
from 4 C to 12 C until one of the surface wind shifts brought north winds
and a drop in temperature.
Raptor Observations:
Raptors coming through fairly high appeared to be aided by southeasterly
winds 100 meters or more above the surface.
Non-raptor Observations:
One sandhill crane; one snow goose travelling with three canada geese;
spring's first peepers yesterday at Site 1. Yellow-shafted flickers.
Jann Randell, Jill and Berk Adams and Mike Ceci helped with the count.
Predictions:
Rain, northeasterly winds; probably not good.

Observers:
Weather:
Partly to mostly sunny skies were seen today along with light to moderate
south and southeast winds becoming light east late in the day.
Raptor Observations:
While there was more or less steady movement throughout the day, the
largest concentration of birds was in the early afternoon, at which time
birds were extremely high and difficult to detect. This is a typical
scenario at this site on light south winds, a weather variable that is a
relative rarity here. Red-tails and Rough-legs both had their best days
thus far and Sharpies were finally recorded for the spring.
Non-raptor Observations:
New arrivals included Snow Goose (2 white and 1 blue), American Woodcock,
Dark-eyed Junco and Northern Flicker. Robins dominated the songbird
movement in general but there was still considerable Redpoll migration as
well.
