Mary Jane. Hurry back, one and all.
Weather:
Another comfortable day, with mild North winds switching to the West in the
afternoon. Last hour was a bit chilly as the rain clouds moved in.
Raptor Observations:
Extended look at a local Northern Goshawk - the wingbeat of this awesome
Bird is so distinctly different from a Cooper's Hawk; much deeper and very
Buteo-like. It is truly a thrill to watch the Goshawk in action!
Our best Osprey day in terms of numbers; and another double-digit day for
Sharp-shinned Hawks.
As usual, local Bald Eagles wowed the Bradbury Mountain State Park
Hawkwatchers.
Non-raptor Observations:
4 Common Snipes(should any Bird have "Common" in it's name? I think not.)
3 Double-crested Cormorants seen.
Many thanks to Lionel, Michael; and especially Alan, who hung around
almost the entire day. Excellent spotting gentlemen!
