Visitors:
Dave and Anita Cooney, Dave and Dee Chase
Weather:
A lovely, warm spring day with southwesterly winds shifting to northwest:
such a nice day the shift to the north was welcome.
Raptor Observations:
The shift in the wind moved the winds to the hillside. Three immature bald
eagles came through in what appeared to be a bonded group, two performing
involved aerobatics.
The broadwing flight continues.
Non-raptor Observations:
A mockingbird, but no western meadowlark yet.
Sceptical Tom came for the predicted flight,
But after he came few birds were in sight;
Then the afternoon brought more hawks than one broadie,
And Tom had to admit the day wasn't too shoddy.
Jill and Berk Adams, Jann Randell and Mike Ceci helped with the count, but
not with the doggerel.
Predictions:
Sunny, even warmer than today, moderate southwesterly winds. Could be
another good day.

First, total vistors for yesterday(4/16/08) numbered 30.
Total for 4/17/08 = 27. Included were the following: Pat, Marie, Joanne,
Brendan, Becky, Skip, Sheila, Hannah, Landon, Beth, Cheryl, Rob, Sarah,
Cedar, and Hans.
Good spotting by one and all. Please hurry back!
Weather:
Awesome weather today - South winds virtually all day. Comfortable temps
all day. No complaints whatsoever, but a few clouds would be welcome...
Raptor Observations:
Let us start with an adult Bald Eagle escorting a Basic I Eagle through our
viewing range. These Birds were dogfighting for several minutes, with some
brief "talon grappling" included. Simply awesome.
Or how about the adult male Northern Harrier that flew North, maybe 60
yards West of Bradbury Mountain. This "pale ghost" left us speechless.
Perhaps an extended look at a Merlin circling and showing off would strike
your fancy.
If not, then maybe the multi-colored adult male American Kestrel, flying
60 feet above our heads would do the trick.
Or the numerous and varied close looks at Broad-winged Hawks would perhaps
awe and amaze you.
Of course, if spectacular Birds, wonderful weather, and interesting guests
don't pique your curiosity, then you probably aren't reading this anyway.
Bradbury Mountain awaits you - and we look forward to seeing you.
Non-raptor Observations:
Cedar Waxwing, Ruby-crowned and Golden-crowned Kinglets, Pine Warbler, were
all observed.
Predictions:
I predict i will have fun.

Weather:
The weather today was sunny and warm. temperatures ranged from 17 degrees
C. at the start of the count, and remained steady at around 20 degrees for
most of the day.
The winds again were very strong from the south west, but not as
severe and as gusty as yesterday.
Raptor Observations:
Today's flight was dominated by Broadwinged Hawks and Sharp-shinned Hawks.
Due to the strong winds, most of the flight today was at tree level
and we had great close up looks at the hundreds of Broadwings and
Sharpshins that came in and over the observation tower.
Other raptors of note were a single adult Golden Eagle that came in
low and fast and only a few observers managed to see it, three Bald Eagles,
and some Red-shouldered Hawks.
Non-raptor Observations:
Other species seen were....Upland Sandpiper, Sandhill Crane, Fox
Sparrow,Eastern Towhee,Belted Kingfisher, Northern Rough-winged Swallow,
Barn Swallow, Common Loon and Great-blue Heron.
Predictions:
The Next few days could be very promising indeed
