Mainly a high flight; in the afternoon, many of the same birds came back
over and over again.
Non-raptor Observations:
American Bittern 1; Pine Warbler 1; Palm & Myrtle Warblers more than in
days before; Blue Jay 1 (fos); White-breasted Nuthatch 1; Mute Swan 3
Predictions:
Sunny. Highs in the upper 60s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph.
Generally these winds are considered unfavorable for the Hook.

Weather:
Warm southwesterly winds shifted to northwest early in the day. A bright,
cloudless, difficult sky with some haze.
Raptor Observations:
The kettles of BW's are getting bigger. A beautiful look at one
non-migrant adult bald eagle. When the wind shifted to the north, the
birds were pushed to the hillside where they were high and wide. Thank
goodness for many and good sets of eyes.
Non-raptor Observations:
Early morning brown thrasher serenaded us at site one. Chipping sparrow.
Jann Randell, Mike Ceci, Tom Waselewski and Dave Feliciano helped with the
count.
Predictions:
Mostly cloudy, very warm, moderate southerly winds. We could have another
good day in a string of good days. Watch out for rain late.

Weather:
Beautiful sunny day with winds from the southwest swinging to west north
west and temprature srating at 15C and rising to 23C.
Raptor Observations:
Th flight started around 9:30AM EST and was constant until 2:00 PM EST when
it began to thin out. An immature Bald Eagle put in an appearance but chose
to fly west rather than migrating east. At 3:00PM EST we moved to the
Grimsby Drive site as the flight had moved inland and we had 35 sightings
in the last hour there.
Non-raptor Observations:
Purple Martin, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Common Loon and, at 1:09 EST, a
single Double-crested Cormorant flying north towards Lake Erie.
Predictions:
Sunny, with a high near 77. Southeast wind between 5 and 9 mph. The Ball
Park may be the best site.

Site Description:
This spring only "all volunteer" watch is conducted at Lakeside Memorial
Park in Hamburg, NY. It is located on flat lake plain located along the
shoreline of the east end of Lake Erie, about 12 miles south of Buffalo,
NY.

Directions to site:
Lakeside Memorial Park in Hamburg, NY. is located about 12 miles southwest
of Buffalo, NY at the Hamburg Exit 57 of the NY State Thruway. Bear right
after the toll booth onto Camp Road (Route 75). Proceed through the traffic
light at Southwestern Blvd.(Route 20). The entrance to Lakeside Memorial
Park is on the left, less than 1/4 mile from the light. The watch is
normally conducted half way between the entrance and the woods. An
alternate site for easterly wind flights is at the William Williams Ball
Park, located on Rogers Rd. Take Route 20 south from Camp Rd. one traffic
light and turn right till just before the railroad crossing.

2 Sandhill Cranes, 170 Northern Flickers, 5 Pine Warblers, and F.O.S. Brown
Thrasher and Northern Mockingbird [an unusual migrant].
Predictions:
Saturday, like Friday: a few hundred hawks... we've run out of birds until
we get a pre-frontal push and that will likely be Sunday. But more young
Golden Eagles are likely to be among Broadwings and Sharpies.

Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at
the mouth of the Patapsco River, 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. Best
winds are from the southwest. The Park is closed to visitors on
Wednesdays.
