Weather: Very nice day - up until the last 2 hours, that is. The winds got quite strong and very chilly; but an excellent day up until those last 2 hours. Raptor Observations: Sharp-shinned Hawks gave Broad-winged Hawks quite a battle; Broad-wings prevailing 27 to 25. A missed field-goal at the end of regulation, kept the Sharpies from victory. Birds of the day however, were 3 Merlins which appeared within 10 minutes of each other. Awesome! Also, an immie Bald Eagle which almost sneaked through, at a very high altitude(too high to precisely age); but another excellent spot by Brendan. Non-raptor Observations: Nice Blue-headed Vireo action around the site. And a very enjoyable flyover by a Pileated Woodpecker. Also, some serious flyover action by Double-crested Cormorants. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jeannette Lovitch (wildbirdcenter(AT)yarmouthbirds.com) BIRDHAWK is sponsored by HMANA.
