Weather:
Clear, sunny skies and cool northwesterly winds. The north winds off the
lake kept the temperature between 14C. and 16C. despite the strong sun.
Raptor Observations:
Another very modest flight. Four non-migrant bald eagles, local cooper's
hawks displaying and apparent local red-shouldered hawk and harrier.
Non-raptor Observations:
Hooded warbler, chipping sparrows, scarlet tanagers, baltimore orioles.
Tom Wasilewski, Bill and Eileen Jowett and Jann Randell helped with the
count.
Predictions:
Warmer with southerly winds and a chance of showers or thunderstorms in the
early afternoon, then likely showers and thunderstorms. Will the front
push some birds to us? Time's running out. (Thursday, May 15 will be the
last day of the Ripley Hawk Watch for 2008).

Weather:
Moderate and gusty winds varying from NNE to E throughout the day. Mostly
cloudy skies, temperatures approaching 70F.
Raptor Observations:
Non-raptor Observations:
Very few non-raptor migrants as well. 40 total species on the day seen or
heard from the summit, including 8 species of warblers and calling Barred
Owl.
Other birds deemed migrating:
11 Double-crested Cormorant
11 Tree Swallows
6 American Goldfinch
5 Barn Swallow
1 Purple Finch
Predictions:
Winds should lighten up as deep low offshore pulls away and pressure
gradient relaxes. Light and variable winds, with afternoon seabreeze
likely to develop. As our season winds down - last day May 15th - a last
little push of birds would be most welcome in the next two days!

Weather: Clear Blue Sky, Temperature Range: 62º to 68º, Wind: NNE, variable

Raptor Observations:
Not one bird observed migrating but the local RT's came off of Marcella
Ridge, rose high over Bald Ridge to the Tourne then behind the cell tower.
I did have one surprise at 1200 hrs when an Osprey came from behind the
cell tower flew low directly over the ledge then disappeared behind
Marcella Ridge. maybe it has a nest in the area.
Non-raptor Observations:
I figured I would give it one more shot before the Spring Count becomes
history. My only companion was an Indigo Bunting (actually 2 or 3) perch in
a tree on the lower ledge. It stayed with me the entire time. An Eastern
Bluebird also joined the party for a few minutes, too.

Weather:
Mostly sunny skies were seen today with some late-day cloud building into
the area ahead of a frontal system bringing rain in the overnight. Winds
were moderate to fairly strong from the southeast.
Raptor Observations:
While Sharpies dominated the day in general terms, much of the day belonged
to the falcons and included the top Merlin day of the spring and the second
biggest Peregrine flight. Among other highlights was a juvenile rufous
morph Red-tail.
Non-raptor Observations:
It was a very good passerine migration day with quite a few new arrivals:
Magnolia, Chestnut-sided, Parula Warblers, Chimney Swift, Least Flycatcher,
Eastern Kingbird, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Baltimore Oriole and Gray-cheeked
Thrush. The highlight among all these though was an unexpected Western
Tanager.
