Raptor Observations: Not one bird observed migrating but the local RT's came off of Marcella Ridge, rose high over Bald Ridge to the Tourne then behind the cell tower. I did have one surprise at 1200 hrs when an Osprey came from behind the cell tower flew low directly over the ledge then disappeared behind Marcella Ridge. maybe it has a nest in the area. Non-raptor Observations: I figured I would give it one more shot before the Spring Count becomes history. My only companion was an Indigo Bunting (actually 2 or 3) perch in a tree on the lower ledge. It stayed with me the entire time. An Eastern Bluebird also joined the party for a few minutes, too. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Fred Vanderburgh (f.vanderburgh(AT)att.net) Wildcat Ridge - New Jersey information may be found at: http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/wldcthwk.htm BIRDHAWK is sponsored by HMANA. Winds were moderate to fairly strong from the southeast. Among other highlights was a juvenile rufous morph Red-tail. Non-raptor Observations: It was a very good passerine migration day with quite a few new arrivals: Magnolia, Chestnut-sided, Parula Warblers, Chimney Swift, Least Flycatcher, Eastern Kingbird, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Baltimore Oriole and Gray-cheeked Thrush. The highlight among all these though was an unexpected Western Tanager. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan (common_raven(AT)hotmail.com) Whitefish Point information may be found at: http://www.wpbo.org/ BIRDHAWK is sponsored by HMANA.
