Predictions:
Periods of rain with an isolated thunderstorm possible. Rain may be heavy
at times. Very windy with highs in the upper 70s. East winds 20 to 30 mph.

Dave MArtin spent the better portion of this day with us on the platform.
Julie McCall and Ellie Menser came by for a brief period, as did a few
other anonymous visitors. 6 in Total.
Weather:
Cooler today, with a high of 31C. The breeze off the ocean helped keep
things pleasant, as the approaching hurricane loomed in the distance. By
late afternoon, showers had begun, and the winds started to pick up. For
most of the day, moderate winds were out of the SE.
Raptor Observations:
Slow, but another season first - Bald Eagle!
Non-raptor Observations:
Quite an impressive congregation of swallows on the Cape this afternoon.
Best sighting of the day - 3 Bank Swallow among the masses.

Some folks from Ohio. This was their first trip here.
Weather:
Windy 8-12 mph from South turning westward. Temp 23 C. Pressure 29.9 in
HG. Cloud cover mostly 100% with brief period of sunny opening overhead and
eastward near end of time (11 AM). There was a bit of 'spit' rain 9.30 - 11
AM. Major rain cell passed eat and north of tower.
Raptor Observations:
Very little Nothing until 11-12 when a kestrel passed and an imm bald eagle
and two turkey vultures. All were considered Resident of loval birds
Kestral was the only counted bird for the day.
Non-raptor Observations:
GBH, great egret 1, Canada goose mallard, killdeer, ring-billed gull,
mourning dove, swift, humbird, flicker, tree swallow (100+), barn swallow,
blue jay, catbird, grackle, and goldfinch.
Predictions:
Should have sunny day with north component wind. This should jump start the
flow of birds.

37 visitors including a couple renewing their vows on the 25th wedding
anniversary.
Weather:
No view in the early am due to low fog. Very hazy, hot and sticky with
limited visibility all day..unable to even see past Crotched Mt. Few
clouds. Wind increased thru the day, S to SW.
Raptor Observations:
Of the birds that were seen-they were relatively low. Not much movement.
Three juve sharpies visited and mobbed the owl repeatedly, playing and
vocalizing-possibly a family group judging by behavior. They were not
counted as migrants. Also special attention is given to merlins and their
behavior to try to prevent counting residents.
Non-raptor Observations:
3 chimney swifts, black-capped chickadee, golden crowned kinglet,
red-breasted nuthatch, dark-eyed junco, blue jay, yellow-rumped warbler,
American redstart, pine warbler, cedar waxwing, common raven
Good push of butterflies..monarchs, mourning cloak, red-spotted purple,
plus copius darner sp.
Predictions:
Rain predicted for most of the day and part of sunday. As soon as this
weather system lifts, the birds are gonna fly!

Hot and humid! Temperature 84-88 degrees, 1% cloud cover, visibility 3
miles, winds from the South at 10mph.
Raptor Observations:
Hot temperatures, south winds and hazy skies made it tough for both
migrants and observers. OS flew directly above the hawk watch heading SW.
1 SS had fun harassing a local RT before heading SW. Local RTs, TVs, BVs
very active today.
