Tunxis campground area, sighted at 10:50, and about 1:00 feeding with
at least a dozen Juncos.

south of Mohegan 2 restroom in camping area NW of traffic circle -- 1
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, 1 PINE WARBLER in large mixed flock of
chickadees, juncos, cardinals, sparrows, yellow-rumps, downys. Feeding
on lawn and in cedars/brush, especially on south sloping lawn on south
side of grove. approx. 12:30.

Off topic perhaps, but I think this note from Dave Rosgen is worth
repeating: If anyone sees any sick-looking Raccoons around White
Memorial Foundation's property (Litchfield Area) please report them
immediately to us at (860)-567-0857 and to the D.E.P. dispatch center
at (860)-424-3333. We've had to deal with 2 such animals in as many
days, and 7 since September.

2/12 - Norfolk, Rt 272 north of town -- NORTHERN SHRIKE flying cross
the road.
Canaan, near Weatogue Rd -- ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK
Canaan, Clayton Rd -- 15 PINE GROSBEAKS eating from an apple tree
beside a house.

2/12 - Hammonasset State Park - Orange-crowned Warbler in campground
west of Tunxis and Mohegan bathrooms. Mostly feeding on the ground,
in with large flock of juncos, 1 Pine Warbler, Yellow-rumps, 8 Fox
Sparrows, 100's of Robins, etc. No sign of the Western Tanager. Noon
to 1:30 PM.

male in with a group of ring-necked ducks near the fountain seen at
2:15 pm.

be in Essex, CT this Saturday and Sunday, February 16th and 17th. The
event is free, with the exception of the tickets for the Eagle Viewing

2/13 - Stratford home -- flock of 30 calling FISH CROWS flew southwest
over our house 7am while I was out shoveling wet snow. I suspect they
left a roost somewhere along the nearby Housatonic River. Another
sign of early spring.
2/12 - Westport, Saugatuck RR station -- 4pm, PEREGRINE FALCON perched
on high tension wire over RR station.

2/15 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- 10:30AM, Western Tanager
seen atop a large deciduous tree in the Tunxis area of the
campgrounds. Observed the bird for about 1 minute before it flew off
to the west. Also seen: Orange-crowned Warbler, Pine Warbler, Red
Breasted Nuthatch. Did not find any Red Crossbills in the W Beach
area.
