3/04 - New Haven, East Rock Park -- 9:45am, As I was approaching the
short 12' wooden foot bridge, a very handsome male Woodcock came up
our of the right side of the path, 10' in front of me "bobbing and
rocking" and "strutting his stuff." I just watched and was amazed by
his display! After about 45 seconds he took flight to higher
elevations, possibly the "Archery Field" at the top of the park

about that many Cedar Waxwings in 2 berry trees north of the ice rink.

PINTAILS. They (5 male, 2 female) stayed briefly, then took off and

end of Long Beach parking area looking perpendicular to the road back
toward the marsh, also visible from Oak Bluff Ave.

Eurasian Wigeeon off the end of Hobson St (which is off Shippan Ave);

Note: This daily report does not give a clear picture of the state of
the migration, such as the first report of American Oystercatcher
today. That information is available on the CTBirds open discussion
list.

3/08 - Simsbury, Simsbury Farms rec. area, Old Farms Road -- 3 PINE
GROSBEAKS feeding in a smallish tree about 20 yards north of the
access drive road. They were about 100 yards up from Old Farms Road.
I have yet to see them up by the ice rink where others have recently
reported them.
3/07 - Canton yard (Meyers Wildlife Sanctuary) -- FOX SPARROW (first
appeared on Tuesday)
