Subject: CT Report 09/20/2008
From: Roy Harvey <rmharvey(AT)snet.net>
Date: 20 Sep 2008 9:47pm
***** REMINDER
***** Lighthouse Point Park Migration Festival
***** Sunday from 8 AM to 2:30 PM
From Paul Cianfaglione:
9/20 - Rocky Hill, Rocky Hill Meadows -- 1 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, 4
AMERICAN PIPIT.
9/18 - South Windsor, Station 43 -- 175+ WOOD DUCK.
From Charlie Barnard:
9/20 - Stratford, Long Beach -- morning, at least 1 Nelson's
Sharp-tailed Sparrow in the spartina beyond the parking lot. Three
birds flushed, but only one perched up long enough for me to get on
it. They had just been strafed by a sharp-shinned hawk, so they did
not respond to pishing. The one bird which I saw well appeared to be
of the race alterus. It lacked the more extensive gray back of the
race subvirgatus and the chest streaking was dark, rather than the
gray of subvirgatus.
From Hank Golet:
9/20 - Old Lyme, Watch Rock mudflat -- PECTORAL SANDPIPER
From Chris Loscalzo
9/20 - Westbrook, Menunkatesuck River Marsh -- ten LITTLE BLUE HERONS
(five adults, five immatures).
From Andrew Dasinger and Bill Asteriades:
9/20 - Glastonbury, Glastonbury Meadows -- 1 GRASSHOPPER SPARROW, 5
LINCOLNS SPARROWS, 1 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, 1 MARSH WREN, 1
BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, 2 BOBOLINKS.
From Jerry Connolly and The Audubon Shop Sat. Birdwalk Crew:
9/20 - Madison, Hammonasset SP -- AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER
From Peter DeGennaro:
9/20 - Naugatuck, Naugatuck Industrial Park -- 2 YELLOW-BELLIED
FLYCATCHERS.
From Glenn Williams and Steve Rossiter:
9/20 - Groton, Bluff Point -- YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER and
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH.
From J Clifford:
9/19 - Madison, Hammonasett State Park -- In the grasses to the back
of the pond near the rotary by Meig's Point, American Bittern near
the Little Blue Heron who was in the pond. Great views from the road
near the rotary.
