12/13/09 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- 4 flyover SANDHILL
CRANES heading west just before 8 a.m. (spotted by Tina Green); 3
female COMMON EIDERS off Meigs Point; 2 BALTIMORE ORIOLES in
campground.

12/13/09 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- 7:58 AM, 4 Sandhill
Cranes flying west.

12/13/09 - Stratford, end of Sniffens Lane -- a lone SNOW GOOSE
migrated over; numerous flocks of Canada Geese migrating over (as they
did Saturday), including 1 CACKLING GOOSE; 1 PEREGRINE FALCON atop
distant RR tower.

12/13/09 - Branford, yard feeder -- off and on from 1 pm, Baltimore
Oriole feeding on Finch Feast seed mix. Looked like a fall immature.
Stayed about 10 min. We will keep looking, maybe it will hang around
for the CBC.

Hyerdale Drive) -- Red-breasted Nuthatch, 8 Purple Finches.

Falcon, Eastern Meadowlark, Snow Buntings, Common Eider.

12/17/09 - Windsor, Landfill -- spent 1.25 hours in the freezing wind
combing through about 300 gulls and was able to pick out 1 second
winter ICELAND GULL.
Northwest Park -- The RED-HEADED WOODPECKER continues in the same
area. The red of its heads is increasing.

12/17/09 - Wallingford, Pistapaug Pond -- Fourteen Brant (unusual
number inland) at 11:30 a.m.

12/17/09 - Westport, Compo Beach -- 2 SNOW BUNTING.

12/17/09 - Coventry, Coventry Lake -- 3 F/juv LESSER SCAUP.

12/18/09 - Stratford, Stratford Point -- One ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER
foraging in the bushes around our office building all morning - mostly
hanging out in the corners that are protected from the wind.
Additional noteworthy species present during a late morning survey: 1
COMMON EIDER persists on the LIS side of the point, 12 White-winged
Scoters (with Surf Scoters) relatively near shore and many hundred
more Scoters well off-shore, and one hardy Eastern Meadowlark.

12/18/09 - Stratford, Stratford Point -- One ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER
foraging in the bushes around our office building all morning - mostly
hanging out in the corners that are protected from the wind.
Additional noteworthy species present during a late morning survey: 1
COMMON EIDER persists on the LIS side of the point, 12 White-winged
Scoters (with Surf Scoters) relatively near shore and many hundred
more Scoters well off-shore, and one hardy Eastern Meadowlark.
