HI ALL:
Has anyone heard of the latest changes ( I assume splits??) in the latest
AOU checklist supplement? It was due out last month but I haven't heard
anything yet? ALSO, does the NEW 4th edition of the National Geographic
Society's field guide actually offer anything NEW (id info., range maps
and especially plates)?

Ian & all,
As far as I know, the last issue that was sent out was April.
Keep in mind that the July issue is in fact the July, Aug., Sept.
issue, so I guess if it came out in Sept. it wouldn't be late.
I haven't heard a word on the new Geo. Guide. Is it Oct. when it's
due out?

Hi all,
I would like to get in contact with people working or who have worked, with
shorebirds in Suriname, Fr. Guiana or Brit.Guyana. So, does anyone have a
contact for me in one of these countries?
Please send any info directly to djentl(AT)hotmail.com
Thanks in advance!
Best wishes,
Arne

Subject: Caracara
From: Bill Hill <billhill(AT)REDSHIFT.COM>

Early this week we had a Caracara near Marina in Monterey California. Last
month there was one at Vandenberg in Santa Barbara County and today they had
another. that is a total of 5 in a year in that County. This raises the
question of where are these birds coming from. In the past Caracara in
California have been considered escapees and are on the Supplemental list.
Any thoughts on this high number of sightings in one year. Pictures of the
Monterey County bird are available at.

We are considering this to be a first basic bird but any comments would be
welcome.
I am new to your forum and hope that this is an appropriate topic
