My backyard has had a Sharp Shinned Hawk visitor for over a month now.
Infrequently seen in the backyard perching, praying on the
Hummingbirds, American Goldfinches, Lesser Goldfinches, White &
Goldcrowned Sparrows and House Finches. NOW he's in the backyard ALL
day. What a great opportunity to study this species up close....but
where'd the birds go?
Please come see the pictures I have taken of this wonderful bird!

Subject: Orchard Oriole

Roy Carlson and I were lucky enough to refind the male ORCHARD ORIOLE
that Michelle Scott reported yesterday. The bird was low in the shrubs
alongside the nature trail near marker #3 at Natural Bridges. The bird
wasn't very active thus allowing us lingering views.
I don't have the icterid book but I think that this bird is a first year
male just coming into adult plumage as the mantle of the bird was a
mottled brown contrasting with the black head and chestnut body. The
wing coverts also appearred brownish and mottled and the plumage looked
quite fresh.
Cheers,
Roger
