Subject: Odds & Ends (WF Goose, Glaucous Gull, Kittiwake)
From: Steve Mirick <smirick(AT)comcast.net>
Date: 28 Nov 2009 5:08pm
Howling winds out of the WNW this afternoon with sustained winds of 30
to 35 knots and a peak wind gust of 47 knots (!) at the Isles of Shoals.
Not a lot to report, but a few hours along the coast produced...
Along Coast
-------------
Greater White-fronted Goose - 1 immature continues along Rt. 111 with
Canada Geese in grassland conservation area east of Runnymede Farm.
Canada Goose - 125 in 5 migrating flocks of 22,25,26,30, and 22.
Interesting to see birds migrating in these winds.
Red-throated Loon - 3 heading south and presumed migrating in one group
Northern Gannet - Despite winds, several seen along the coast.
Including 2 juveniles foraging INSIDE THE HAMPTON HARBOR breakwaters!
Glaucous Gull - 1 subadult from parking area south of Yankee Fisherman's
Coop.

Black-legged Kittiwake - 1 adult off Seabrook Beach
At Exeter WWTP
---------------------
Lesser Scaup - 58. Remarkable flock continues. While I can's swear
there wasn't a Greater or two possibly mixed in, they all appeared to be
Lessers.
Green-winged Teal - 12 continue
Great Blue Heron - 1
