Subject: NH Forest Nursery Catalog Available
From: "David Govatski" <pondicherry(AT)wildblue.net>
Date: 4 Dec 2009 8:26am
The 2010 NH State Forest Nursery catalog is now available online at this
link: http://www.dred.state.nh.us/nhnursery/ You can request a free hard
copy catalog by mail or you can read it online. The nursery stocks bare root
seedlings of many shrubs and trees that are attractive to birds such as
mountain ash, northern wild raisin, black cherry and crabapple to name just
a few. Seedlings typically cost $10 for a package of 10 seedlings and $60
for a package of 100 seedlings. Planting native shrubs and trees is a great
way to attract birds and beautify your yard or woodlot. I am sending in my
order today.
Had one male Evening Grosbeak at the feeder this morning. Currently seeing
about 20 American Goldfinches and 6 Purple Finches. The feeders just went up
a few days ago when we had the snow which melted yesterday with the warm
weather.

From: lauren.kras(AT)gmail.com

I've spent quite a bit of time out birding the past few days mostly at Rochester
(although I also swung down the coast with Mike Thompson). I have NOT seen the
Thayer's Gull since Wednesday at the WWTF. I've compiled a few highlights
below:
Rochester WWTF 12/4 from 10:20-11:20:
Bald Eagle - 1 adult which scared away 95% of the gulls
Northern Goshawk - 1 adult arrived shortly after gulls started returning but
left quickly
Red-tailed Hawk - 1 adult seen as I was leaving
Peregrine Falcon - 1 adult which chased around the pigeons
Iceland Gull - 1 juvenile
Lesser Black-backed Gull - 2: 1 adult, 1 juvenile
Rochester WWTF 12/3 from 9:00 to 11:30
Iceland Gull - 1 juvenile
Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 juvenile
Coast 12/3:
Purple Sandpiper - 25 at Rye Ledge
Glaucous Gull - 1 at Seabrook Beach

Subject: Golden Eagle
From: "Bird Records" <BRecords(AT)NHAudubon.org>
Date: 4 Dec 2009 5:13pm
NH Audubon received a report of an adult Golden Eagle today at Green Mountain in
Claremont.
The person called in and left a message:
20-30 feet up in a tree
bronze/brown plumage (not gray like a young Bald Eagle)
That's all the info.
