Subject: [Ontbirds] Brant - Ottawa
From: ohmkid(AT)rogers.com
Date: 11 Jul 2009 4:57pm
Hi Ontbirders
Yesterday (July 10th), at around 3pm, there was a Brant grazing on the lawn and
started to swim away from me in one of the ponds nearest the river at Andrew
Haydon Park - Ottawa. I was very surprised to see it, my third time seeing Brant
in Ontario! Also, at Brittania, I saw Spotted Sandpiper,Pied-Billed Grebe and a
few of the more common warblers.
Directions to Andrew Haydon Park:
From the Highway (417) take exit 129 (Pinecrest Road). Go north onto Pinecrest
Road to Carling Avenue. Turn left (west) on Carling and turn right on Holly
Acres into Andrew Haydon Park.

Subject: [Ontbirds] Kingston: Great Egret and Green Heron
From: <digigal(AT)sympatico.ca>
Date: 11 Jul 2009 5:04pm
As a follow-up to Paul O'Toole's email from earlier this week, we spotted one
Great Egret and one Green Heron in a marsh off Taylor-Kidd Blvd yesterday. Both
were quite a distance from the road, but visible with the naked eye.
Photo of each can be seen at:

Cheers,Peg HauschildtKingston, ON
>From Kingston, take Taylor-Kidd Blvd west, crossing over Collins Bay Rd.
Continue on past the first turn-off into Amherstview (Coronation Blvd) and head
down a small hill. At the bottom of this hill there are two marshes (one on each
side of the road). The egret and heron were in the marsh on the south side of
the road.
