[ << | >> | ^^ ] Subject: [birders] White Pelicans and more at Pt. Moo. From: "Charles Owens" <vinblue(AT)cass.net> Date: 11 Jul 2009 5:08pm While walking the Moo this morning, yes during the thunderstorm, I found a total of 9 White Pelicans in the Vermet unit. Also at the Moo was a single Whimbrel, Least and American Bittern, Black Terns, Solitary Sandpipers and hundreds of Yellowlegs, both lesser and greater. It took me a total of five hours to walk the dike system and on my way out 5 of the Pelicans were still there from the little town where the sky meets the corn, Charles Owens, Blissfield, Mi --- * birders FAQ - http://www.umich.edu/~bbowman/birds/birders_FAQ.html * photo sharing site - http://www.umich.edu/~bbowman/birds/se_mich/photos.html * To unsubscribe from birders(AT)umich.edu send a blank message to lyris(AT)listserver.itd.umich.edu with UNSUBSCRIBE BIRDERS as the Subject line. [ << | >> | ^^ ] Subject: [birders] Pinckney SRA, ect. From: "James Fox" <93fox(AT)earthlink.net> Date: 11 Jul 2009 8:57pm I went camping at Pinckney SRA for the last three days. Birding was pretty good considering that it was July. Highlights at Pinckney were Yellow-throated Vireo (several), Acadian Flycatcher ( ±4), Veery (±6), Hooded Warbler (1-2), and Barred Owl (2). All of these birds were found near the Crooked Lake Campground. I also stopped at Stinchfield Woods for about about an hour and found two Blue-headed Vireos near the north entrance. Other highlights were Hooded, Black-throated Green, and Pine Warblers, Ovenbird and Acadian Flycatcher. I also stopped by a friend's house south of Chelsea on Washburne Rd., I saw several Dickcissels and Grasshopper Sparrows and heard one or two Northern Bobwhites. These birds can probably be found on Washburne Rd. between Sharon Hollow and Jason Roads. [ << | >> | ^^ ] Subject: [birders] P.S. From: "James Fox" <93fox(AT)earthlink.net> Date: 11 Jul 2009 9:08pm Oops! I forgot to mention that I posted a few pictures of the Dickcissels on my Flickr site <http://www.flickr.com/photos/22374475@N07/>. I also would appreciate help on identifying a skipper that I took a picture of, I think that it's a Cloudy Wing but am not sure if it is a Northern or Southern.
