They don't seem to interbreed and have now distinct migration route and consequently different wing shapes. [ << | >> | ^^ ] Subject: [birders] Cooper's hawk From: "Sharlan Douglas" <sdouglas(AT)douglasgroup.biz> Date: 4 Dec 2009 4:54pm I wouldn't even call myself a birder, but I love to lurk on this board. We spotted this bird in our backyard in Royal Oak. Is it a Cooper's Hawk? If not, what? [ << | >> | ^^ ] Subject: [birders] Hamburg winter yard birds From: "Mag Tait" <mtait(AT)umich.edu> Date: 4 Dec 2009 5:44pm The Red-Breasted Nuthatch is a regular at my feeders and I saw a Carolina Wren for the first time in awhile today. Birds of the day were a flock of 8 beautiful turkeys, right up by the house under the feeders and eating the corn scattered along the woods's edge. It has been years since I have seen them in the yard, so was a real treat.
