The room was apparently dedicated in late October=2C so my apologies if thi=
s is old news to some of you.
I also took a very quick look at the UM library's website. I didn't find an=
y more info about the Audubon room=2C but I did find this brief page about =
the university's copy of Audubon's BIRDS OF AMERICA:

Saw a golden-crowned Kinglet flitting briefly around my side yard juniper
in Grosse Pointe Woods today. A first for me at this location.

I was there this past Saturday. The Birds of America is a double
elephant portfolio, meaning enormous.
The drawings are amazing, judging from the one page they had on display.
They turn the page every
week. There are several other documents on display from the University's
special collection, such as a
letter from Galileo to a benefactor. Here's a web page
<http://www.ur.umich.edu/update/archives/091015/audubon>
<http://www.ur.umich.edu/update/archives/091015/audubon>with more
detail, including, toward the bottom
a list of some of the documents on display. Not related to birding, but
while you are over at the library I also
recommend stopping at the nearby UM art museum to see the special
exhibit on impressionist paintings and
photography from the mid 1800's. The technology was new and primitive
but those photographs are astonishing.
