[ << | >> | ^^ ] Subject: [birders] Tundra Swans on Portage Lake From: Raburn L Howland <rhowland(AT)umich.edu> Date: 15 Dec 2009 10:26am At dawn this morning there were about 100 tundra swans on the north end of Portage Lake. In addition there were a couple of groups of trumpeters amd at least 30 mutes. The best place to observe them would be in the park at the end of Foxe Pointe One which can be reached from McGregor Road. It is just over the Livingston County line on the left. --- * birders FAQ - http://www.umich.edu/~bbowman/birds/birders_FAQ.html * photo sharing site - http://www.umich.edu/~bbowman/birds/se_mich/photos.html * To unsubscribe from birders(AT)umich.edu send a blank message to lyris(AT)listserver.itd.umich.edu with UNSUBSCRIBE BIRDERS as the Subject line. [ << | >> | ^^ ] Subject: [birders] Hummingbird blog update From: "Allen T. Chartier" <amazilia1(AT)comcast.net> Date: 15 Dec 2009 3:12pm Hummingbird enthusiasts, I have updated my blog with an account of a trip to Holmes County, northeastern Ohio, on Friday, December 11, when I banded Ohio's first Allen's Hummingbird. It is rather long, but also has lots of photos. And I get on my soapbox a little at the end, so you can read that bit, or not, as you see fit. Go to my blog at: http://mihummingbirdguy.blogspot.com/. [ << | >> | ^^ ] Subject: [birders] Re: Hummingbird blog update From: Bob Tarte <theduckpen(AT)att.net> Date: 15 Dec 2009 4:00pm --Apple-Mail-1--864193492 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed; delsp=yes Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit What an amazing find, Allen. I had no idea it took such a detailed examination of the tail feathers up close to determine an Allen's from a Rufous Hummingbird. The soapbox section at the end was, for me, the most interesting part of the entire piece. Congratulations on the continuing success of your banding project. And thanks for sharing your information in such a fascinating blog. On Dec 15, 2009, at 3:12 PM, Allen T.
