At Metro Beach Metropark, this morning, September second, to the east of th=
e swimming pool on the beach or along the adjoining lawn were the following=

Semipalmated Plover 3=20
Killdeer about 25=20
Greater Yellowlegs 4=20
Lesser Yellowlegs 10=20
Whimbrel 1=20
Buff-breasted Sandpiper=C2=A01=20
There was the sudden sound of gunshot from two goose hunters just beyond th=
e west end of the beach.=C2=A0 The whimbrel took to the air and left (possi=
bly going to Point Rosa).=C2=A0 The yellowlegs also took to the sky, as wel=
l.=C2=A0 Those that returned remained jittery for a short while.=C2=A0 But =
the sound of gunshot did not seem to panic the two plover species and the b=
uff-breasted sandpiper.=C2=A0 They remained on the lawn or at the water=E2=
=80=99s edge.=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=20
