This is done to confuse the spam 'bots.

[ << | >> | ^^ ] Subject: Photos! From: Wayne Scott <wsscottnh(AT)earthlink.net> Date: 24 Jan 2002 7:13am Hello VTBirders and UVBirders, The presence of the leucistic redpoll in Norwich and the fine photos that Terry Rosenmeier took, underscore the need for a website featuring photos of rare or unusual birds seen in Vermont. Photos of birds in New Hampshire are often posted by Steve Myrick on his web page. Go to: http://www.nh.ultranet.com/~mirick/Photos/VaRail1.jpg for an example of a set of photos taken this week by Denny Abbott. There are six numbered in the URL (address) VaRail1-6. VINS has generously offered to supply some web space for Vermont bird photos. I am hopeful it will serve several purposes. First, it will be a showcase for birds seen in Vermont and for Vermont birders who would like to share these sightings. It will encourage people to document sightings with photographs and help in some cases to resolve difficult ID's. It could become the beginning of an archive of Vermont bird photos. It could also serve as a jumping off point for a forum on identification. For VINS, it might help generate some web traffic at their site. For now, I will serve as an editor for the website. For the time being, it will be limited to digital photos as I have no way of easily scanning prints or slides. For extraordinary birds, I might be able to have it done. In any event, I would like to keep the photos somewhat current and, of course, limited to photos taken in Vermont. Be sure to send only your best quality photos. I don't promise to post every single photo as there is certainly a space limitation at the VINS website. When the site is up and running, I will let you know. So take your cameras into the field and document your sightings! If you have any fairly recent photos you'd like to share (seen this winter) to get this web page going, please send them to me at the EARTHLINK address below. Surely there are some nice photos out there of the Sandbar snowy owl! Also, the Tundra Swans have been in the bay off Porters Point in Colchester for the last week. I also have had the pleasure of a White Throated Sparrow in the hedge near my feeder off and on all winter. Lynne Hefferon Colchester
