  Spend the day with wildlife photographer Shawn Carey (Migration Productions) and discover tips and techniques for digital wildlife photography with a focus on photographing Bald Eagles and other raptors. Topics to be covered range from equipment, composition (what makes a great photo), to some of the best locations in Massachusetts to photograph birds and other wildlife throughout the year. Please bring a lunch, your equipment and a few samples of your photos.

• Digital Darkroom Photography with Eric Smith and Shawn Carey
  Three Digital Darkoom Workshops 2008:

  With the digital camera revolution has come the reality of doing your own "digital darkroom" work. This class will lay a proper foundation for handling your digital images. It will cover everything from storing your images, labeling and filing them, to editing. Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Lightroom will be used to teach a variety of topics including adjustment layers, masks, levels, sharpening and more. Since you must do different things depending on what you will do with the image (print, web, e-mail) editing for a specific purpose will be covered too. Once the groundwork is laid, we will edit several images so you can see how to apply the techniques.

We will provide two auto focus 400mm and two 600mm Canon lens for use during the outdoor portion of the class.

Explore the art of wildlife photography using digital technology. Turtles, birds, and butterflies are just a few of the wild subjects we will photograph. This hands-on workshop focuses on the fundamentals of photography and an introduction to editing images using Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Lightroom. Use of the instructors' professional cameras and accessories will be encouraged. Two auto focus 400mm and two 600mm Canon lens for use during the outdoor portion of the class. Participants should have working knowledge of their digital camera. Instructors: Shawn Carey (professional wildlife photographer and co-founder of Migration Productions) and Eric Smith (photographer).

Want to learn more about the spring hawk migration that takes place every year right here in Massachusetts? Or maybe you did not know about this annual phenomenon. Either way this promises to be an educational and fun event for anyone interested in raptors! For those that want this can be a two part program. Sunday morning lecture, video and live birds of prey and late morning field trip at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge.
