From Bangor: Take Rt. 1A to Ellsworth. At Ellsworth, turn left on Rt. 1 North (opposite McDonald's), and go 50 miles to Columbia Falls. Turn right onto Rt. 187 and go 11 miles to Jonesport. When you come to the stop sign, turn left.
To get to the boat departure point, go 1.3 miles to the Sawyers Square Road (opposite Kings Lumber), turn right, and go straight to the water. There will be a parking lot at the end of the road.
From Machias: Take Rt. 1 South, and just after Jonesboro turn left on Rt. 187. Go about 12 miles, turn left on Sawyers Square Road (opposite Kings Lumber), and go straight to the water and boat departure point.
From the intersection of Rt. 187 in Columbia Falls, head west on Rt. 1. Take your first right (7/10 miles) and then take a left at the top of the hill where there will be a sign that says 'Columbia Falls Air Force Station 11 Miles'. Follow this road for 5 miles. At this point the main road curves to the left in front of a cemetery while a dirt road continues straight to the right of the cemetery. There will also be a sign that says 'Air Force Station 6 Miles'. Follow the dirt road.
As you continue along the dirt road you will pass through a variety of blueberry fields and wooded sections. Pay particular attention to the rows of trees used for wind breaks in the fields since they are used as perches by singing birds.
At around 7 miles you will come to the Air Force's Over-The-Horizon Back Scanner, a large antenna. This is a good area to look and listen for Upland Sandpipers.
Stay on the roads and out of the blueberry fields. Pay close attention to signs posted along the fields warning of the use of honey bees, herbicides, and pesticides.
Turn onto Bridge St. from Rt. 187 in Jonesport and cross the bridge over Moosabec Reach to Beals. Bear left at the stop sign after the bridge. Continue for 1.1 miles and then bear right at an intersection where a there is a sign for The Nature Conservancy preserve. After a mile this road becomes a dirt road. After 2 more miles there will be a parking lot on your left with a 'Preserve' sign. Park in the lot and register in the provided notebook.
Continue east on Rt. 1 from Joneboro for around 30 miles. Take a right onto Rt. 189, there should be signs for Campobello Island, New Brunswick. Continue on Rt. 189 for around 10 miles and take a right at the signs for Quoddy Head State Park and follow these signs to the park.
Continue east on Rt. 1 from Joneboro for around 30 miles. Take a right onto Rt. 189, there should be signs for Campobello Island, New Brunswick. Follow 189 for around 10 miles into Lubec and then cross over the bridge to Campobello Island, New Brunswick. After Canadian Customs there is a Visitors Center on your right. Stop there for maps and further information on the island.
