The National Birding Hotline Cooperative (NBHC) is a set of mailing lists for a variety of birding discussions and for transcripts of RBA hotlines. Through email, users subscribe to a list and then receive all email messages sent to that list. There are three lists for posting RBA transcripts. They are BIRDEAST, BIRDCNTR, and BIRDWEST for eastern, central, and western North America respectively. There is a NBHC FAQ with more info.
What appears in the RBA Section of the regional pages on The Virtual Birder are the RBA Transcripts from NBHC. These pages are updated a couple times a week, usually on Monday and Friday nights. Rather than checking these pages, a better option for people interested in regularly receiving this information is to subscribe to one or several of the NBHC RBA lists.
The following describes how to subscribe to BIRDEAST. To subscribe to BIRDCNTR or BIRDWEST just substitute the appropriate list name for BIRDEAST.
Subscribe to BIRDEAST:
To subscribe to BIRDEAST send an email message whose first line is:
SUBSCRIBE BIRDEAST First_Name Last_Name
(replacing First_Name and Last_Name with yours) to the NBHC listserv at:
LISTSERV@LISTSERV.ARIZONA.EDU.
You don't need to include an email address since the listserv
extracts this from the email message. (Note: Make sure your
browser is configured with the correct email address if you use
the above email link.)
After sending the subscription request you will receive a reply that will ask you to confirm the subscription information. You must send the confirmation before you will start receiving messages from the list. You will also receive information on how to UNSUBSCRIBE from the list.
