Welcome to the Birding Hotline for interior Alaska as of April 24. The
 warming weather in the past few days has brought a wave of migrants 
into the area.

There was a huge flock of approximately 600-800 gulls at Creamer's 
Refuge on Wednesday evening, April 23. The majority were HERRING
 GULLS. However, 1 GLAUCOUS GULL and 3 GLAUCOUS-WINGED
 GULLS were also present.

Also on April 24, a WILSON'S SNIPE was winnowing in the low area
 below Love Road at 3.8 miles Chena Hotsprings Road.

On April 22, the following birds were in the front fields at Creamer's 
Refuge: 1 HERRING GULL, 3 WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 10 
NORTHERN PINTAILS, 5 MALLARDS, 1 SNOW GOOSE, 5 
TRUMPETER SWANS, AND 600+ CANADA GEESE.

An AMERICAN KESTREL was seen at 14.5 miles Chena Hotsprings
 Road on April 20.

A GRAY-CROWNED ROSY FINCH was in Healy on April 16

A NORTHERN FLICKER was seen on Gilmore Trail on April 15. 


Upcoming events include:
Tundra to Tropics: Connecting Birds, Habitats, & People, A photographic
 presentation in celebration of International Migratory Bird Day will be 
shown on April 24 at 7:00 PM at the Alaska Bird Observatory.

The Fairbanks Spring Migration Celebration will take place from 12-4 PM
 at Creamer's Field & Farmhouse. There will be activities, games, bird 
watching, and fun to celebrate spring migration and International 
Migratory
 Bird Day.
