This is the Seward, Alaska Rare Alert for Friday April 25, 2003. On the 24th,
the first Arctic Terns were seen at the head of the bay. Sandhill Cranes and
Canada Geese were seen by many on the 22nd, as several large flocks flew over
town heading north. On the 20th, a male Eurasian Wigeon was spotted in the
ponds at the south end of the airport, but has not been reported since then. On
the 19th, the first Ruby crowned Kinglet was heard singing at Cooper Landing.
The single Trumpeter Swan continues to be seen in the swamp a mile 1 of the Nash
Road, usually on the south side of the road. Northern Harriers, first seen on
the 16th, are still being occasionally seen at the airport.
After the tone, please leave a message of any unusual birds seen.
