Welcome to the Arkansas Rare Bird Alert for July 23, 2010, sponsored by the
Audubon Society of Central Arkansas (ASCA). ASCA meets at 7:00pm the second
Thursday of each month. Check the www.ascabird.org website for details on
upcoming meetings and field trips.
From around the state recent sightings are:
At Bald Knob NWR, an adult Piping Plover is being seen. Coming from Bald Knob,
it has been on a mudflat, on the right, before the grain bins. Four juvenile
White Ibis, one behind the grain bins and three others over around the Eagle
nest area, are also being seen on the refuge.
At Arkansas Post National Memorial, two Least Bitterns were recently seen.
Purple Gallinules, Anhingas, Common Moorhens, and American White Pelicans are
also present.
