BlackbirdWhite-winged Crossbill Sightings for February 24 In the South Okanagan,
 the first spring migrants are already arriving with good numbers of
VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS and SAY'S PHOEBES as well as a few AMERICAN PIPITS along
the Okanagan River near Road 22 N. of Osoyoos (DB, m.ob). At the N. end of
Osoyoos Lake was a male RED-BREASTED MERGANSER while three more were on  Osoyoos
 Lake at the Hwy 3 Bridge (DB, m.ob).  On Feb 23, the BEWICK'S WREN was again
seen in Kelowna along Mission Ck upstream from the Casorso Road bridge (CC,SB).
Along Dee Lake Road E. of Lake Country, two AMERICAN THREE-TOED WOODPECKERS, a
BOREAL CHICKADEE and 3 PINE GROSBEAKS were found just N. of Dee Lake (CC,RT).
Also on Feb 23, three BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS and a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD were
seen going to roost in the marsh along the Okanagan River just S. of Road 22
(DB).
 
Thirty to forty WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen along McCulloch Rd near the
Nordic Cross Country Ski Trails SE. of Kelowna on Feb 19 (JF).
