is above lifeguard tower #58. The second bird is at the Ballona Creek mouth,
often at the tip of the south jetty. This individual was reported through April
23.
Small numbers of SWAINSON’S HAWKS continue to pass through, with three at
Bonelli Park in San Dimas on April 18 and one over Altadena on April 22.
A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was on the Rio Hondo in South El Monte on April 19. To
reach the spot where the bird was found, park at the west end of Rush Street
(west of Rosemead Blvd.) and walk west to the river and then north a short
distance.
Two BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES, a winter adult and a second year bird, were found
at Malibu Lagoon on April 20.
A PLUMBEOUS VIREO was at Sepulveda Basin on April 18 and 19. This bird was in
the cottonwoods along Haskell Creek at the north end of the Wildlife Reserve
entrance.
A SUMMER TANAGER, likely a continuing bird first found on Jan. 10, was at the
Los Angeles National Cemetery on April 21. It was in a silk floss tree in the
