This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for Thursday, June 18.
 
Two BRANT continued at Malibu Lagoon through June 14.
 
An adult LITTLE BLUE HERON at Del Rey Lagoon was reported through June 17.  Del
Rey Lagoon is east of Pacific Ave. south of the Ballona channel.  The bird has
also been seen in the Ballona Creek channel just north of the lagoon.  This
heron has been roosting at the egret roost and rookery at Admiralty Park (Yvonne
 Burke Park) and so may be seen there late in the day.  The park is on Admiralty
 Way across from the Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey.
 
A female RED PHALAROPE was at the Lancaster Sewer Ponds on June 13.  The bird
was in the notheastern most of the main ponds (pond #7).  Also present at the
ponds were five BONAPARTE’S GULLS and a RING-NECKED DUCK.
 
A WHITE-WINGED DOVE is being seen in Lancaster.  In the vicinity of 1675
Staffordshire, look south across the street.  There is a feeder here and the
bird has been seen in this general area.  Staffordshire is near the intersection
 of Avenue L and 17th Street West.
 
A TENNESSEE WARBLER was at a residence in Long Beach on June 13 and a female
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK also turned up there the same day.
 
The NORTHERN PARULA at the Village Green Condominiums was seen through June 18. 
 The bird has been seen at several locations on the property, most recently at
the east side of the central lawn area.  The condos are on the south side of
Rodeo Road at Cloverdale.  This is private property but birders are welcome.
Please be thoughtful of the residents so that this privilege continues.
 
An adult male BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at Eaton Canyon in Pasadena on June
18.  The bird was north of the bridge at the north end of the main canyon, about
 one third of the way from the bridge to the waterfall.
 
A male HOODED WARBLER was seen the morning of June 14 only at Hahamongna
Watershed Park in Pasadena.  The bird was singing at the north end of the willow
 forest, but could not be refound in the afternoon.
 
 
VENTURA COUNTY—
 
A BRANT was at Ormond Beach on June 16 and a LONG-TAILED DUCK was at Point Mugu
NAS also on the 16th.  This bird is in an area that is not accessible to the
public.
