BirdBox, sponsored by the Golden Gate Audubon Society, compiled
24 February 2008 at 06:35 a.m.
Highlights: YELLOW-BILLED LOON (possible), CATTLE EGRET, SNOW GOOSE,
ROSS'S GOOSE, EURASIAN WIGEON, GLAUCOUS GULL, BALD EAGLE,
SWAINSON'S HAWK, MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD, ROCK WREN, GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE
Contra Costa Co.

On Feb 23, a 1st cycle GLAUCOUS GULL was seen along the dikes at
the West Contra Costa Landfill in Richmond. This is at Parr Blvd
which is off of Richmond Parkway. A male EURASIAN WIGEON was seen
at the south end of Miller-Knox Regional Park, near the
Ferry Point Pier. (John Luther)

Merced Co.

On Feb 21, (80) CATTLE EGRETS were seen at the slaughterhouse
along Hwy 152 at Los Banos. On Feb 20, a BALD EAGLE was seen along
the auto tour loop of the Merced NWR. Among the 30,000 white geese
were two dark-morph ROSS'S GOOSE and two dark-morph SNOW GOOSE.
A ROCK WREN was seen in the parking lot. A pale headed large LOON,
possibly a YELLOW-BILLED LOON was seen flying over Hwy 152
from O'Neill Forebay to San Luis Reservoir. (Peter Metropulos)

On Feb 21, a male MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was seen at 53538 Little Panoche
Road, 1.5 miles from Interstate 5. In Mendota, along Hwy 33,
(10) SWAINSON'S HAWKS and (6) GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES were seen.
