This is a summary of reports from the Northern California 
BirdBox, sponsored by the Golden Gate Audubon Society, compiled
17 February 2010 at 05:45 a.m.

Highlights: TUFTED DUCK, BLUE-WINGED TEAL, COMMON MERGANSER, PACIFIC
GOLDEN-PLOVER,
MEW GULL, BALD EAGLE, GREATER ROADRUNNER, YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD, 
GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE.

Merced Co.

On Feb 8, a GREATER ROADRUNNER was along Hwy 152 in the parking lot
at the Romero's Visitor's Center Overlook. At the north end of 
Santa Fe Grade at its intersection with Gun Club Road, there were 
thousands of birds including a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER, an adult
MEW GULL, (30) BLUE-WINGED TEAL, (2) adult BALD EAGLE, 
(70) YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS and (7) GREAT TAILED GRACKLES.

On Feb 16, there was a male TUFTED DUCK in the San Joaquin River
along Sherman Island Jetty Road.  

To reach the spot, from the east end where it intersects with 160 (at
3 Mile Slough Bridge), take the road south for 4.2 miles.  A green
channel marker #27 in the middle of the river and a pale green house
trailer across the river mark the spot.  This is 0.3 miles beyond the
house #18650. (Bob Brandriff)

San Francisco Co.

On Feb 14, a female COMMON MERGANSER, (4) RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS,
many BUFFLEHEADS, (19) RUDDY DUCKS and a COMMON YELLOWTHROAT were at
Crissy Lagoon. (Logan Kahle)
