The SOOTY TERN continues through today at Bolsa Chica Preserve. The bird is
near the abandoned blind on "Tern Island" and can be scoped either from the
boardwalk or from the bikepath along Pacific Coast Highway (when in sight).
A very large number of SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS (7) were at the south end of
Bolsa Chica (Harriet Weider Park overlook) on August 6th, with 5 juveniles
recorded on 8/8.
A GOLDEN EAGLE was sighted on the 8th at the closed El Toro Marine Air Base.
A SAGE SPARROW was seen about 6 miles above the gate at Upper Silverado
Canyon...road to Maple Springs) in a burned-over brushy gully on the
"downhill" side of the road before taking off down into the canyon.A cairn
of rocks marks the spot .
