This is the Santa Barbara County rare bird report being posted on Monday,
June 14, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. If you have a rare bird sighting to report,
please post it to sbcobirding@yahoogroups.com. The rare bird alert number
for Santa Barbara is no longer in service.

AMERICAN AVOCET breeding, a rare occurrence in the County, was confirmed at
the dairy in Cuyama.

NORTHERN PARULAS are present in several locations including the upper
parking lot at Tucker's Grove County Park in Santa Barbara, Nojoqui County
Park in Solvang, and Refugio Road 2.4 miles south of the Santa Ynez River.
A singing AMERICAN REDSTART was in the same area but 2 miles south of the
river. The male and female PARULAS in Tucker's Grove give hope to a first
breeding record for the south County.

A male and female BLUE-WINGED TEAL were seen recently at the Santa Maria
sewage treatment plant.

Good Birding in Santa Barbara County and please post your sightings.
