This is the Santa Barbara County rare bird report being posted on Saturday,
July 10, 2010 at 4:30 p.m.  If you have a rare bird sighting to report,
please post it to sbcobirding@yahoogroups.com.  The rare bird alert number
for Santa Barbara is no longer in service.

Large numbers of COOK’S PETREL have been seen in deep water well offshore of
Santa Barbara.  Easiest access is through a guided pelagic trip.

Shorebird migration has begun.  Places to check include Devereux Slough,
Goleta Beach, the Goleta Sewage Treatment Plant, the Mission Creek outfall,
and the Santa Ynez and Santa Maria River estuaries.

At least one NORTHERN PARULA continues at the upper parking lot at Tucker’s
Grove County Park in Santa Barbara.

A singing male INDIGO BUNTING continues on West Camino Cielo at coordinates
34.52938°N -119.98584°W.
