This is the Colorado Rare Bird Alert for Thursday, May 25, sponsored by 
Denver Field Ornithologists and the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory.

Highlight species include: Green Heron, Glossy Ibis, Snowy Plover, Piping 
Plover, Ruddy Turnstone, Sabine's Gull, White-winged Dove, Yellow-bellied 
Flycatcher, White-eyed Vireo, Blackburnian Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler, Ovenbird,
Northern Waterthrush, Mourning Warbler White-throated Sparrow, and Rose-breasted
Grosbeak.

Adams County:
--A male BLACKPOLL WARBLER was reported by Kilpatrick at Barr Lake on May 21.

Boulder County:
--A singing OVENBIRD was reported by Tumasonis on the Amphitheater Trail in 
Gregory Canyon on May 21.  Tumasonis reported two OVENBIRDS on May 22.  One at 
the beginning of Royal Arch Trail and one behind Chatauqua Auditorium.
--A GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Gent at Cottonwood Marsh on May 21.

Crowley County:
--A GREEN HERON was found by Semo at Lake Henry on May 21.

Delta County:
--A PIPING PLOVER was reported by Galinat at Fruitgrowers Reservoir on May 24.

El Paso County:
--A basic plumaged SABINE'S GULL was reported by Peterson at Big Johnson on 
May 24.
--At Chico Basin Ranch a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was found, caught and 
banded in the grove with the banding station on May 24.

Otero County:
--At Lake Cheraw, Leukering and Semo reported one RUDDY TURNSTONE and at 
least twelve SNOWY PLOVERS on May 21.  On May 23 four SNOWY PLOVERS were seen.
--A WHITE-WINGED DOVE was reported by Leukering at Library Park in Rocky Ford 
on May 21.

Washington County:
--At Last Chance, Erthal reported BLACKPOLL WARBLER, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, 
and WHITE-THROATED SPARROW on May 24.

Weld County:
--A BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER was found by Messick on CR 100 about 1/4 mile east 
of CR 57 on May 20.  Komar reported two WHITE-EYED VIREOS and a female 
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK at the same location on May 20.  On May 21, Hopper
refound the
BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER and the female ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK and in addition 
found a male MOURNING WARBLER at the same location.  The BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER
was
seen by several the afternoon of May 21.

A field trip for Saturday, May 27, is to the South Platte River Trail led by 
Jackie King.  Meet the leader at the parking area at 88th and South Platte 
River Trail at 0730.  Bring lunch and plenty of water.  Call 303-287-1644.

A field trip for Saturday, May 27, is to Chatfield State Park led by Joey 
Kellner.  Meet the leader at 0645 for half day trip.  State Parks pass required.
Call the leader at 303-978-1748 to discuss meeting place and to reserve space.

The field trip for Sunday, May 28, is to Rigli Ranch.  Meet the leader at the 
ranch at 0830.  Bring lunch and extra water.  Call 970-768-7121 for more 
information.  From Hudson, go east on CO 52 until it turns north.  Do not turn 
COLO
one mile to first house on left by boxcars.

The field trip for Monday, May 29, is to the Wheat Ridge Greenbelt led by 
Jackie King.  Meet the leader at Prospect Park lake at 0800.  This will be an
all
day trip so bring lunch.  Call 303-287-1644 for more information.
