Brooks Co., Georgia

Many BACHMAN'S SPARROWs were heard singing Mar. 11 in the private pine
plantations along Hickory Head-Dixie Rd. and Livingston Rd, SE of
Grooverville Hwy (DeLorme p.66,D5); several first-of season
YELLOW-THROATED VIREOs were also heard in the area.  8 species of warblers
and 8 species of sparrows were seen (KA,JB,AB,BB,MH,BP).  A single
BREWER'S BLACKBIRD was seen near Troupville Hwy and CR14 (DeLorme
p.66,B7).  Note:  singing BACHMAN'S SPARROWs were noted Mar. 5 at Suwanne
River SP in Hamilton/Madison/Suwannee cos., FL.

Lowndes Co.., Georgia

A WHIP-POOR-WILL was heard singing at dusk on Mar. 12 off Knights Academy
Rd. just east of Grand Bay (1 mi W of US-221), along with 3 BARRED OWLs
and 2-3 GREAT-HORNED OWLs (DeLorme p.67,A10; BB,MH).  RUBY-THROATED
HUMMINGBIRDs were first seen in Valdosta Mar. 12 and in Douglas (Coffee
Co.) Mar 11.

Muscogee Co., Georgia
---------------------
A female AHY RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was banded in Columbus Mar. 3 (TJ).

Coastal Georgia
---------------
11 PIPING PLOVER was a good count for one spot on Little Tybee Island Feb.
28 (LT,RH et al.).

Wakulla Co., Florida
--------------------
15 species of shorebirds were seen Mar. 11 at St. Marks NWR, including
MARBLED GODWIT, WHIMBREL, AMERICAN AVOCET (3), AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER (ca.
10), and BLACK-NECKED STILT (mostly at the Lighthouse Pool); 65 AMERICAN
WHITE PELICANs were in Mounds Pool #1

Franklin/Gulf cos., Florida
---------------------
A first-of-season CHUCK-WILL'S WIDOW was heard at Alligator Point Mar. 12
(JD); WHIP-POOR-WILLs have also recently been heard in the area.

A first-of-season SWALLOW-TAILED KITE was seen Feb. 29 on Hwy. 30 between
Apalachicola and Cape San Blas (HV).

Leon Co., Florida
-----------------
Two first-of-season ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWs were seen Mar. 5 at Springhill
Rd. STP; a LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER, BARN SWALLOW and 7 AMERICAN AVOCETs were
seen there Mar. 10 (GM).

On Mar. 5, a male WILSON'S WARBLER (resident all winter) and a WINTER WREN
were seen at San Luis Mission Park (DH).

On Mar. 8, a BROAD-WINGED HAWK was heard calling in Tallahassee.  A
winter resident BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD was still present as of Mar. 10
(PC).

Duval Co., Florida
------------------
4 STILT SANPDPIPERs were seen Mar. 2 at Spoonbill/Sawpit Pond on the North
end of Big Talbot Island (NW).
