EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS -
This is the Voice of Audubon for Monday, April 21.
At the Beech Forest in Provincetown on Saturday a small fallout of
migrants
included a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, 4 RED-BREASTED NUT-
HATCHES, 8 RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, a BROWN THRASHER, a
WHITE-EYED VIREO, a BLUE-HEADED VIREO, 30 YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLERS, 4 PINE WARBLERS, 10 PALM WARBLERS, an exceptionally
early KENTUCKY WARBLER, and a RUFOUS-SIDED TOWHEE. At
Herring Cove Beach, thousands of RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS and
large numbers of NORTHERN GANNETS continue to be concentrated,
along with a few Northern Right Whales, Humpback Whales, and Atlantic
White-sided Dolphins.
A report from the Parker River Refuge at Plum Island included 2
NORTHERN
SHOVELERS, 30 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 4 GLOSSY IBISES, a BALD
EAGLE, and 2 EASTERN MEADOWLARKS.
Tallied in Rowley were 45 GLOSSY IBISES, 11 GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, a LESSER YELLOWLEGS, and a SHORT-BILLED
DOWITCHER.
In the South Peabody area there were 2 VIRGINIA RAILS, A YELLOW-
BELLIED SAPSUCKER, 4 NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS,
3 BROWN THRASHERS, 52 PALM WARBLERS, and 7 FIELD SPARROWS.
At Crooked Pond in Boxford there was a report of 2 PILEATED WOOD-
PECKERS and 2 WINTER WRENS.
At Millennium Park in West Roxbury there was a NORTHERN ROUGH-
WINGED SWALLOW, 2 BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS, and a YELLOW
WARBLER. BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS were also reported from
Woburn, Newton, and Fowl Meadow in Milton.
At the Daniel Webster Sanctuary in Marshfield there was a SNOW GOOSE
and a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, and in Duxbury a LITTLE BLUE
HERON and a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL were reported.
Miscellaneous reports included 82 RUDDY DUCKS and 2 NORTHERN
ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS in Pembroke, the sighting of a possible
FRIGATEBIRD in Chatham on Sunday, 4 WILSON'S SNIPE at the
Arnold Arboretum, a PILEATED WOODPECKER and a NORTHERN
WATERTHRUSH in Medfield, 2 HOUSE WRENS at Nahant, a
LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH in Haverhill, and a BALTIMORE
ORIOLE at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge.
