EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS

This is the Voice of Audubon for Monday, June 15.

The YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD found at the end of Whale Cove Lane
in Rockport this past Friday was last reported there on Saturday.

Species reported from Winchendon as part of the statewide Breeding 
Bird Atlas
project included 1 ALDER FLYCATCHER, 5 BLUE-HEADED VIREOS, 7
HERMIT THRUSHES, 11 species of wood warblers including 1 NASHVILLE,
3 BLACK-THROATED BLUES, and 6 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS,
10 SCARLET TANAGERS, 2 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS, and 5
INDIGO BUNTINGS.

A congregation of seabirds off Race Point in Provincetown on Saturday 

included 1 SURF SCOTER, 1 RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, 10 COMMON
LOONS, 5 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 15 GREATER SHEARWATERS, 40
WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, 350 NORTHERN GANNETS, 4 BLACK-
LEGGED KITTIWAKES, 600 LAUGHING GULLS, 1 ICELAND GULL, 2
LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS, 4 ROSEATE TERNS, 4500 COMMON
TERNS, 5 ARCTIC TERNS, 3 POMARINE JAEGERS, 12 PARASITIC
JAEGERS, 1 LONG-TAILED JAEGER, and 5 unidentified jaegers. Highlights 

from Nantucket included a MERLIN and a PINE SISKIN.

Seen at Revere Beach were 12 MANX SHEARWATERS, 1 RED-NECKED
GREBE, 5 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, and 1 BLACK TERN, and miscellaneous
reports from the weekend included 4 ORCHARD ORIOLES in Ipswich, 2
BROWN THRASHERS, 4 FIELD SPARROWS, and 4 PINE SISKINS in
Acton, a BLACK GUILLEMOT off Marblehead, a MOURNING WARBLER
in Wellesley, and 3 GLOSSY IBIS and 2 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS
at Duxbury Beach.
