This is the Voice of Audubon for Monday, June 29.
A seawatch at Andrew's Point in Rockport produced 1 RED-THROATED
LOON, 1 NORTHERN FULMAR, 21 CORY'S SHEARWATERS, 131
GREATER SHEARWATERS, 162 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 46 WILSON'S
STORM-PETRELS, 28 NORTHERN GANNETS, 1 LAUGHING GULL, 1
ROYAL TERN, and 1 RAZORBILL, and seabirds seen at Provincetown
included 3 CORY'S SHEARWATERS, 250 GREATER SHEARWATERS,
25 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 200 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, 95
NORTHERN GANNETS, 6 BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES, 250
LAUGHING GULLS, 6 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS, 1100
COMMON TERNS, 72 ARCTIC TERNS, 17 PARASITIC JAEGERS,
5 LONG-TAILED JAEGERS, and 8 unidentified jaegers.
Noted from the beach at Plum Island were 4 SOOTY SHEARWATERS,
12 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, 1 LEACH'S STORM-PETREL, 1
ROSEATE TERN, and 2 PARASITIC JAEGERS, and at Nantucket
there were roughly 100 CORY'S SHEARWATERS, 5 SOOTY SHEAR-
WATERS, 1 MANX SHEARWATER, 60 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS,
and 1 POMARINE JAEGER.
A report from South Beach in Chatham included 1 RED-NECKED GREBE,
1 NORTHERN HARRIER, 380 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 6 SEMI-
PALMATED PLOVERS, 1 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 70 WILLETS
(including 2 of the western race), 14 RUDDY TURNSTONES, 40 RED
KNOTS, 80 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 2 LEAST SANDPIPERS,
7 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, and 40 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS,
and miscellaneous reports from the weekend included a BROWN THRASHER,
12 SALTMARSH SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS, and 1 SEASIDE
SPARROW at the Allens Pond sanctuary in South Dartmouth, and 3
PINE SISKINS elsewhere in Dartmouth.
A HENSLOW'S SPARROW discovered in Montague on Saturday was
still present today in the fields at the intersection of Meadow Road
and
North Taylor Hill Road. For more information, call the western Voice
