EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS

This is the Voice of Audubon for Monday, August 23

Birders looking for shorebirds should specifically be on the lookout
for some of
the less common and late-arriving species such as American
Golden-Plover,
Western Sandpiper, Baird's Sandpiper, and Buff-breasted
Sandpiper. In addition
to watching for shorebirds, keep an eye out for Common Nighthawks
migrating
overhead during late afternoon and dusk. Try to pick an elevated
spot with good
visibility of the northern horizon. Also it's time to be looking for
migrating
warblers and other songbirds in coastal thickets and other
appropriate brushy areas.
