WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS

This is the Western Voice of Audubon for Monday March
17, 2008

Seen in Amherst were 100 SNOW GEESE, a CACKLING
GOOSE, a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE, 2 BLACK
VULTURES, an EASTERN PHOEBE, a NORTHERN SHRIKE, 135
CEDAR WAXWINGS, a BOHEMIAN WAXWING, and 4 PINE
GROSBEAKS.

In Northampton there were 7 AMERICAN WIGEON, 24
GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 36 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 4
CANVASBACKS, 24 RING-NECKED DUCKS, and a NORTHERN
SHRIKE.

Seen at Forest Park in Springfield were a GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE, a CANVASBACK, 16 RING-NECKED
DUCKS, 18 HOODED MERGANSERS, and an adult LESSER
BLACK-BACKED GULL.

Two AMERICAN WIGEONS were in Agawam, a RED-SHOULDERED
HAWK was in Huntington, 40 COMMON REDPOLLS continue
at a feeder in Blandford, and a RUSTY BLACKBIRD was
seen in Holyoke.

Observed in the Turners Falls area were 2 BUFFLEHEAD,
3 SCAUPS, 3 CANVASBACKS, 10 COMMON GOLDENEYES, an
ICELAND GULL, an EASTERN PHOEBE, and a PINE GROSBEAK.

Six NORTHERN PINTAILS were at Onota Lake, a NORTHERN
SHRIKE was seen in Windsor and Lenox, and 2 GADWALLS,
a NORTHERN PINTAIL, and a BUFFLEHEAD were at Cheshire
Reservoir in Cheshire.

Seen in Longmeadow were 30 NORTHERN PINTAILS, an
AMERICAN WIGEON, 70 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 11 RING-NECKED
DUCKS, a CANVASBACK, and 5 FISH CROWS.

Found in Hadley were 4 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, an AMERICAN
WIGEON, a NORTHERN HARRIER, a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, and
50 HORNED LARKS.

Twelve PINE SISKINS were at a feeder in Shutesbury
and 22 EVENING GROSBEAKS were in Petersham.

In Belchertown there were two NORTHERN HARRIERS, an
EASTERN SCREECH-OWL, and a SNOW BUNTING.
