WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS
This is the Western Voice of Audubon for Monday, June
15, 2009
There were 3 BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS and 5 BLACKPOLL
WARBLERS on Mt. Greylock. A VIRGINIA RAIL, a SORA,
and a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO were seen in Cummington,
and a NASHVILLE WARBLER in Goshen.
PEREGRINE FALCON pairs are raising chicks under two
bridges on the Connecticut River, the Memorial Bridge
between Springfield and West Springfield and the
Massachusetts Turnpike Bridge from Chicopee to West
Springfield.
Seen in Tyringham were 4 AMERICAN BITTERNS, an AMERICAN KESTREL, and a
WILSON'S SNIPE.
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS were found singing on
territory in Granville, Sheffield, and on October Mt.
in Washington, where there was also a MOURNING
WARBLER.
Both CERULEAN and WORM-EATING WARBLERS were in the
central Quabbin Reservation.
A SHARP-SHINNED HAWK was seen in Agawam, 12 PINE
SISKINS were in Southwick, a GREAT EGRET was in
Westfield, and a BLACKPOLL WARBLER was found in
Amherst.
