WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS
This is the Western Voice of Audubon for Monday August 30, 2010
In West Springfield there were 9 COMMON MERGANSERS, 3 GREAT
EGRETS, a GREEN HERON, 3 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, 4
LEAST SANDPIPERS, a SOLITARY SANDPIPER, an OLIVE-SIDED
FLYCATCHER, 22 NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS, and 2
MAGNOLIA WARBLERS.
Seen in Southwick were a SANDHILL CRANE, 3 SOLITARY SANDPIPERS, a
BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, a MAGNOLIA WARBLER, and 288
BOBOLINKS, and in Belchertown there were 155 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS.
Seen in Northampton were 193 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS and 448
BOBOLINKS,. In East Longmeadow there were 283 COMMON
NIGHTHAWKS, in Chesterfield there were 4 SOLITARY SANDPIPERS and an
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, and in Westfield there were an EASTERN
SCREECH OWL, 8 RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS, and 7 EASTERN
BLUEBIRDS.
In Agawam there were a GREAT EGRET, a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, a
LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 4 LEAST SANDPIPERS, a BLUE-GRAY
GNATCATCHER, a BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, a NORTHERN PARULA, a
MAGNOLIA WARBLER, and a CANADA WARBLER.
In Springfield there were 2 NASHVILLE WARBLERS, a NORTHERN
PARULA, a PRAIRIE WARBLER, 2 PINE WARBLERS, and a CANADA
WARBLER.
In Longmeadow there were 4 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 28 WOOD DUCKS, 7
GREAT EGRETS, a GREEN HERON, and 4 NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED
SWALLOWS.
At west Quabbin there were 5 COMMON LOONS, 5 BROAD-WINGED
HAWKS, 2 BLACK TERNS, a YELLOW-THROATED VIREO, 8 RED-
BREASTED NUTHATCHES, 2 TENNESSEE WARBLERS, a
BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, and a CANADA WARBLER.
